It was rumoured four years ago that Tony Blair, then the Prime Minister, and Patricia Hewitt, then the Trade and Industry Secretary, were keen to bail out Rover with a loan, but this was scuppered by Gordon Brown, then the Chancellor, and his senior aides.

Smile

I am sure It will be the usual cover up. I cannot see how they can justify paying out that amount of cash for just a simple enquiry. The big question will they be recovering any money from the failed Managment?best wishes woolleysox

They could have given all 6000 Rover employees an extra £2500 each instead of blowing £15M to try and cover up they complete balls-up.

Hugely sad that the company was let go down the way it did. Heartbreaking.

For me though, the blame can be placed firmly at the door of the owners. BMW ploughed millions in, and sold the company with both cash in the bank, a decent infrastructure and quality system, and yet a few years later look at the hole it was in.

4 certain people got rich in all that. You can guess who they are.

if the said 15m was given to MGR it would have helped a lot more than an enquiry will - not like its gonna stop it happening again - we dont have a car industry to go bust again

With talk of the collapseof MGR, I came across these, I don't know if they've been on before but may be of interest to you Rover/MG fans. There's some more here.
