220 SDi

Right, posted over in the 200 forums but then got pointed over here

I'm looking at selling my 216 and buying a 220SDi as the number of miles I do has increased quite a lot lately and I'm spending a fortune on petrol I also like the look of the torque figures

Anyone have any suggestions on what to look out for as this is the first time I've looked at diesels.

Thanks

do the normal thing you would do when looking at the car, you all ready own a rover and visit the forum so you will be aware of most of the minor issues will the bubble.
when looking at the service history check for frequent oil changes. make sure the timing belt and fuel pump belt were done recently for piece of mind and combined they are quite pricey.
they're great fun to drive with a good amount of low down torque.

read the thread started by mean & green, a few of the forum members put their views across.

Thanks. Well I've pretty much decided that I want to get one but now I need to find a decent one somewhere. What kind of price would I be looking to pay? Seen a couple of Autotrader from anywhere from £250 up to £600 so far, still looking

get one and then spend another £100 on a TU1 from Rover Ron, an airfilter and a decat.

will be quite a bit faster than your 216 but will still have a lovely mpg figure

Thanks, will do but not too sure about the decat. Does that make much of a diiference then?

How's this one price wise etc?

I'd say that's pretty overpriced to be honest.

for a car with that mileage (and that colour lol) I wouldn't want to pay more than about £500.

This looks like a good'un

cheers
Ben

Looks like I need to keep looking around for a bit longer then.

I'm liking the red one but it's a bit far from me unfortunately
