Smile

what a car absolutely delighted ,still getting used to the
auto box ,but the car itself is lovely ,the only faults i can find are the clock is not working (display shagged) ,and i think there are 2 bulbs in the interior light ,
of which one is not working perhaps there isnt 2 if so its a bit dark :-)
lovely motor .. what lovely cars rover were/still are ,really pleased i bought
the car ,steering wheel controls for radio still work as well :-)

ill give car a wash and polish ,and get a few pics up :-)

Is it definitely a rover engine then ? I thought it was much later before the honda D series was replaced by a rover auto ?

from memory there is only one bulb in the interior light , clocks are easy to swap out , just pry the wooden strip it sits in out , then the clock is screwed onto that strip from the rear , pick one up from a scrappy and swap them over

go to the trader section on here mgrover codes should be able to furnish you with any codes you need , and places like www.remotekey.co.uk for new fobs , andy

Thanks for reply ,the car had been sitting for 2 months prior to me buying, the guy charged the battery but said it wasnt in the best of condition ,the
battery has gone flat(havent driven for a couple of days ) ,not completely, but not enough power to turn the
starter motor, obviously I need a new battery ,but am I going to have problems if I change the battery over ,what will happen with immobiliser etc when i take battery out ? sorry but im new to all this immobiliser buisness and wish I could just turn it off permanantly ,I do have the code for the radio should that go a.w.o.l why the original owner would put radio code in
book and not immobiliser code is beyond me

also would it be alright to jump start the car or will encounter problems there ?

the clock cant find a thing wrong with the car ,coolant is clean runs perfect, I appear to have got a bargain .Sorry, yes it is the rover engine
version pulls lovely kick down working fine ,have to say Im delighted with
the car thus far long may it continue ,was doing 70 on A3 felt like

Visit your local breakers yard to replace your clock. Should cost a fiver max.

WAC123 is up and running. Hey we all have to start somewhere.
andy ill take some pics of the car and engine and post them for you ..

sadly the battery has not held its charge ,be changed tomorrow ,should

be fun ,i fully expect to be locked out following this :-(

sadly there appears to be a prob with the auto gearbox :-( if i sit with

car in D and foot on break the car starts to judder not all the time but

sometimes ,when pulling off there is also a slight hesitation on occasions

if i take my foot off break and wait 1/2 a second and accelerate car pulls away normally

the gearbox appears to have no other problems ,im having to put the

car in neutral for fear of the judder starting if i leave it in drive ,as i

said first time ive had an auto and thought perhaps it was my technique

hopefully it is :-) any thoughts or help appreciated other than this it

really is a lovely car ,i of course fear the worse i.e the auto gearbox

is shagged :-(

could well be time for a fluid change or a previous owner has done so and put the wrong fluid in , you really need to identify which engine / box it is first before someone can give further advice

if it looks like this its a rover k series

if it looks like this

then its a honda D series , andy

to amt

found this on wicki re: the engine change

In 1996, the Rover Group announced revisions to the Rover 200 Coupé. Three, all new, models were introduced to replace the previous models. The 216 Coupé had the Honda power unit replaced with Rover Group's own K series 16 valve double overhead camshaft power unit.
