Got it made up by the same guy who made the batch of decats for me.

Ended up quite expensive, I think I paid £80 for the inlet manifold and charge pipe. The work's bloody impressive though.

I think donny's still making them IIRC? Might be worth dropping him a pm

Yeah i tried actually, he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth! I would quite like one of his charge pipes, inlet manifolds and turbo outlet pipes. How is lloyds work? £80 does not seem too bad tbh.

What you planning to spend? The low milers are quite pricey.

Yeah bloody good tbh dude, he knos his stuff. He does a lot of custom race/rally car chassis and things (he built the chassis for the first diesel powered single seater in the country, which is run by Lackham college at castle combe) so a bit of exhaust/intake work is no problem!

There's a thread from a while ago when I got him to make up a batch of decats that shows his work - its pretty good. I'll also upload some pics of my manifold when I fit it.

i dunno, tbh after my initial look they're not as cheap as I thought. Seems you can get one with around 90k or so for about 5 grand. When I was looking for them the cheapest high milers were £7k+

I've also been looking at ZT CDTi's though, which are bloody cheap now. Seems you can get a facelift 135+ for about £4k...

Sounds interesting. Would be good to compare pictures of it to the one that donnydiesel came up with. I remember the thread about the decats well, being that my car is fitted with one of the said items from that batch

Thats what i say, you dont get alot for your money really. But you have to weigh it against getting more back when you sell it etc. Just make sure you get one with 100% full service history, and serviced with VW spec oil.

yeah, after looking again this evening it really doesn't seem worth it. I'd love one, I really would but like you say, theres not too many advantages after selling the 'wise etc. etc.

I'm still extremely tempted by a ZT though...

Lotta car for the cash. Im always of the opinions that you should work within your budget and buy the best example of something you can.

yeah that is defo the way to go.

Something that my dad drilled into me from a young age was that you should always buy the best version of a cheaper car, rather than a cheap version of an expensive car.

Hence why he had a string of fully loaded Scorpio's, and now drives a top spec jeep instead of a bottom spec range rover LOL.

I think a tuned CDTi running around 180bhp would be the nuts tbh...

Is it easy to get them to 180bhp?

Well I've read into it a bit and from what I can tell, a full exhaust system coupled to a tuning box and a remap will give you serious gains.

This coupled to a few free mods you can do like the airbox mod (still not 100% sure what that is, I think it involves rerouting the air feed or something) and disabling the EGR and yeah 180bhp isn't too optomistic.

robdrinkwater's running those mods and it got rolling roaded at 201ps and 412nm
