Is there a how to guide anywhere or anything that will help for the ZT 1.8 120 with air con. It is looking really tricky to do and I think I may as well do power steering belt at same time.
Thanks in advance

Yesterday a car braked sharply in front of me and I had to slam on the anchors. I felt the ABS doing its thing. Today, the ABS warning lights come on when you are driving around. (Small light on speedo and warning on computer screen).
When you brake normally you can sometimes feel the ABS pushing back with a little bit of noise.
It stops perfectly ok.

! Any idea what it could be?
2 Do I need another mortgage to get it fixed?

I have no Dash Lights, no Brake Lights, Left front Indicator, Right back Indicator, Left Main Beam, Right Full Beam. Foglamps Work, so do front and back sidelights. The alternator started to go a short while ago when I was on the motorway, in the evening when dark. I drove as far as I could before all power failed and I came to a slow halt. A few miles bofore this happened and the lights were almost out and the car stopped, all the lights came on including dash lights, until we came to a stop.
I have checked wiring as much as I can, Bulbs, replaced light switch, new battery, and of couse new alernator, but cannot find the problem.
Any advice or help would be appreciated

well after insisting for ages that I wouldn't buy a petrol I was just struck by the fact that a V6 ZT 160 (or even a 190) appears to be a good £1300 cheaper than an equivalent CDTi

Now given I only plan on doing 6000 miles per year the case for diesel is suddenly starting to look more than a little shakey... so here come the questions:

as I understand it the V6 requires a little more maintenance than a diesel but how much more (normal servicing)?

currently a pre-2006 Zee 190 would be £245 road rent and the CDTi £155 - can't really see that changing to any vast degree and even if it goes up to £425 surely it still would take quite a while to mitigate the difference in price?

is the V6 a heavier lump than the diesel (I would imagine so) and if so how does it affect the handling/ride?

is the V6 a torquier unit than the diesel? I can well imagine that a 50% increase in power over the diesel makes it 'livelier' but in just normal driving I'd imagine that there really isn't anything to choose between them (please remember for this bit of the discussion ultimate power is irrelevant given I'm currently tooling around in a 345hp V8) I'd imagine that the power appears higher up in the rev range ?

Please note that I'm not looking at the relative merits of V6 petrol vs diesel, even the sound-track I'll refer you again to the V8 comment above (which is unsilenced :overkill:), just about relative costs ie servicing, mpgs and reliability....

Personally I prefer the pre-facelift looks - but it really is a close run thing, the TV I can live without (especially since I suspect that comes the "big digital switch over" they'll no longer work anyway)... what other 'enhancements' were there - or indeed what did MGR take away that people got upset about?

Morning All,

First post so be nice :)

I've had my 75 1.8 Turbo Automatic on a 53 plate for about 3 months now. It's done 52K and all seemed to be brilliant with it. apart from refitting the fuel pump o-ring in the back and changing the turbo blow off pipes I have left it as.

The other day, I could only get 1st, 2nd and Reverse. In Drive mode it would happily change from from 1st - 2nd but then rev when attempting to change to 3rd, never engaging.

If i selected 2nd it would change from 1st to 2nd
If i selected 3rd it would changed from 1st to 2nd and then rev, and the same in 3rd and 4th.

Having taken it to the garage it appears that the pipes to the oil cooler seem to have started to leak leaving no oil in the transmission at all. My garage is saying that these pipes should be metal? As the ones that are on it are rubber.

Today they are replacing the rubber ones with spares they have to see if it fixes the gear change issue, and if so they will order metal replacements.

My question is, should these pipes be metal or rubber? As i cannot see why they would of been changed.

How did you guys get the car off the ground and level, as I only have a 2ton jack and2 axle stands.
